We are proud to announce Jean ‘Papi’ Alvarado as the Doncaster Baseball Club men’s head coach for the upcoming 2026/27 season.

Since arriving at Doncaster in 2019, Alvarado has established himself as a central pillar and core leader of the Dragons’ Men’s 1s program over the past three seasons.

Bringing a wealth of experience from a professional playing career in Venezuela, he currently leads the club’s winter Men’s 1s as head coach.

Alvarado’s coaching philosophy is built on establishing high-caliber standards from the ground up, with a firm focus on player development and fundamental execution.

“I am honored to take on the role of men’s head coach and continue building on the strong foundation we’ve established here at Doncaster,” Alvarado said. “My passion lies in developing great players through great baseball habits every single day.

“We have a fantastic group of talent in this program, and I’m excited to work with the playing group to drive our standards, build consistency, and take the next step together.”

Off the diamond, Alvarado is a devoted family man, supported by his wife Laura and their three children. His passion for the game and commitment to the club’s community culture make him a natural fit to lead the program forward.

Doncaster Baseball Club President Duffy Dowling and the Board are thrilled to welcome Alvarado into the senior head coaching role.

“Papi has been an outstanding leader and contributor since joining the Dragons in 2019,” Dowling said. “His professional background, paired with his dedication to developing our players and embedding strong baseball habits, makes him the ideal person to guide our men’s program into its next chapter.”

Alvarado will confirm his coaching staff over the coming weeks as preparations continue for the upcoming season.
