The Doncaster Reserves saw their championship defence come to an end on Saturday, falling 5-1 to Melbourne Uni at Ross Straw Field.
Having advanced to the semi-final with a come-from-behind win over Essendon a week ago, the Dragons came up short in their rematch of last year’s A-Res grand final.
Facing an early 4-0 deficit, Doncaster got better as the game went on and brought the tying run to the plate in the final frame but it was not to be.
The Thirds, who trailed 10-0 before prevailing over Forest Hill 12-11 last week, are the club’s last team standing. They will square off against Greenhills-Montmorency in Saturday’s grand final at Deep Creek, with first pitch slated for 3pm.
