Doncaster won three of four senior games in Round 12, with the Firsts falling to North Balwyn but the Reserves getting over the line late and the lower grades securing comprehensive victories at Heathmont.

A string of quality at-bats gave the Firsts an early 2-1 advantage but the Stingers hit back with eight unanswered runs from there, solidifying their place at the top of the A-Grade table with an 11-1-1 record as the Dragons (5-7) dropped to sixth.

Making his second start of the season, coach Dan McGrath struck out the side in the top of the first and looked well in control before injury forced him from the game. Moving from third base to replace McGrath on the mound, Fraser Boyd battled through the middle innings before handing the ball to Derek Medlin to finish it off.

Earlier at Deep Creek, the Reserves scored twice in the bottom of the last to break a 3-3 deadlock and improve to 7-4-1 on the year.

The Thirds (11-1) continued their fine form, leading all the way in a 7-1 win over Heathmont, after the Fourths (6-5-1) had cruised to a 17-3 victory.
